WHO Essential Medicine
Our Approach
Becoming "Unstuck"
Ketamine can help people who are navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, or existential distress — particularly when other approaches have not been enough. This medicine is one part of a broader process. The preparation and integration around it are where the real clinical work happens.
Ketamine is not for every condition and not for every person. Whether it is right for you depends on your history, your readiness, and your support network. We screen for this honestly.
With your consent, we partner directly with your existing practitioners and providers so you never have to start your story over. Collaboration is not a feature of our model — it is the foundation.
Your Journey
How It Works
Every patient follows a customized treatment plan built during their clinical intake. The structure around the medicine matters as much as the medicine itself.
The Care Mapping Session is a 50-minute appointment designed to connect you with another member of your Althea NOLA care team before your first infusion. Together we will explore your intentions and goals for treatment, talk about your support network, discuss how we approach music and the infusion experience, and make sure any questions or concerns you have are addressed before your first session.
This visit also gives us the opportunity to offer personalized preparation guidance and, when needed, connect you with a therapist or integration support provider who is the right fit for you and your goals.
Sub-anesthetic ketamine in a controlled clinical environment. A trained clinician is present throughout — not observing from a desk, but attuned to both your physiological state and your psychological process. The medicine session is not where the healing is completed. It is where a window opens.
Relief without integration is temporary. Integration is the active process of translating what surfaced during the medicine session into how you eat, sleep, relate, and show up in your daily life. It can be more demanding than the medicine session itself. We hold continuity across sessions to support sustainable change, not just fleeting relief.
Ongoing sessions as needed, determined collaboratively with your clinical team. The goal is not indefinite treatment — it is building a life where the medicine is no longer the thing holding you up.
Is This Right for You?
Who This May Help
Ambivalence is welcome here. A healthy respect for expanded states is a sign of a well-functioning nervous system.
Feeling Stuck
Heavy, persistent patterns — treatment-resistant depression, severe burnout, a deep sense of disconnection. You have tried other approaches. Something needs to shift.
In Overdrive
Trauma, chronic anxiety, PTSD, or a nervous system that will not quiet down. Even reaching out can feel activating — and that is okay.
Difficult Transitions
Grief, loss, major life changes, or a sense that something deeper needs attention. You may not be in crisis, but you know talk therapy alone is not reaching it.
This medicine is not for everyone, nor for every condition. Ketamine therapy requires a qualifying mental health diagnosis — we screen for this honestly and thoroughly during your clinical intake. If we determine together that now is not the right time, we will say so and help point you toward what might be. There is never any pressure to proceed.
